The Mixed Martial Arts Instruction Manual: Striking

by: Anderson Silva, Erich Krauss, Glen Cordoza
I was very excited to receive the latest Victory Belt publication in the mail: Anderson Silva's MMA Instruction Manual STRIKING.

I'm a huge fan of this series. Co-authors Erich Krauss and Glen Cordoza have also done books with Randy Couture, B.J. Penn and Karo Parisyan.

Like the others, this one is a very well produced tome -- clearly written, excellent color photos, step-by-step instructions on techniques both basic and advanced.

The first thing to jump out at me on perusing this one was a bit of disappointment.

Mixed Martial Arts: The Book of Knowledge

by: Bj Penn; Glen Cordoza; Erich Krauss
I'm a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu student and just wanted to get an idea of how to complete my "Game". This book covers everything!!!!!!!!!

Training for Warriors: The Ultimate Mixed Martial Arts Workout

by: Martin Rooney
Don't let the title fool you, this is not a book about training actual warriors, but it is a book about training MMA competitors. HUGE difference! Okay, now that I have that small detail off my chest, on with the review.

I really like the fact that the author used an abundance of color photographs printed on glossy paper to show the wide variety of training exercises throughout the book. I felt that it really enhanced the quality of the book itself, though not necessarily the quality of the material presented, although in this case it did.

Mastering Mixed Martial Arts: The Guard

Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira is to grappling what Las Vegas is to deserts. The idiom used to be, `One man's meat is another man's poison', but in Nogueira's case it's `One man's poison is another man's bread and butter'.

When it comes to fighting, most competitors - particularly wrestlers - avoid being on their backs like the plague.
